Send hope to the people of Lebanon.

On August 4, 2020, a massive explosion rocked Beirut and its suburbs.  The impact produced a shock that was the equivalent of an earthquake of 4.5 on the Richter scale.  A mushroom cloud over the Port of Beirut raised an ominous reminder of the demise of Lebanon. The blast sent shockwaves from the port to the surrounding buildings killing over 200 people and injuring 6000. It destroyed homes, hospitals, businesses, schools, and churches. Over 300,000 people lost their homes.

The Lebanese are mourning the loss of their fellow citizens and the incredible devastation. This tragedy struck at a time when the economy had already collapsed, and the Lebanese pound is almost worthless. One-third of the population of 7 million are jobless, and 50% are below the poverty line. On top of that, cases of COVID 19 are increasing while medical supplies and hospitals have run out of capacity. One resident described the situation as a nightmare or something you would see in a movie.

This nightmare did not occur by accident. After the civil war from 1975-1990, the dreams of rebuilding Lebanon turned into another 30 years of misery. Greedy, incapable, and corrupt politicians ran the country into the ground, and the whole infrastructure of Lebanon is in ruins.

Since 1996, CBS Lebanon has been working in Lebanon, building relationships and communities by showing the love of Jesus Christ through education (Access International School, Access Technical School, and a Carpentry School), humanitarian aid, leadership training, and the Lord’s Family Church. For over 24 years, we have brought hope and transformation to the Lebanese people.

Will you help us continue in our mission of bringing the love of God to the Lebanese people?

This past year at Access International School, many parents were not able to pay their tuition fees due to the economic crisis, and in turn, the teachers did not receive their full salaries. Others, who are most vulnerable in the community, do not have enough money to buy food.  The need is overwhelming, and we need your help. There are two ways you can help: 1. Please help us pay the teachers and keep them gainfully employed. 2. Please contribute to the food container we are sending to Lebanon. It holds 904,000 meals and will help many families.
